The question is often posed of technical support: Are the controllers for the MDS-6 and MDS-6A cross compatible??

The bus technology and pinouts completely changed between the products. The 6A went to a "straight-through" wiring standard and the information passed on the bus is different. Hence, they ARE NOT swappable. MCS-1A and MCS-2A must be used with only the MDS-6a.
